About The Position
Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) is seeking a Survey Intern who is a civil engineering or survey technician student. HEI provides innovative and practical leading-edge science-based solutions to public, private and non-profit clients. The Survey Intern will be involved with practical on-the-job projects, spending the majority of time working with outdoor surveying and/or construction phase activities.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a two-year civil survey technician program, Civil Engineering program or related field.
- Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
- Above average math and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
Nice To Haves
- Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
- Mark points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying mark.
- Travel with survey crew to different civil engineering project sites around town.
- Place stakes at designated points and drive them into ground at specified elevation.
