Survey Instrument Operator
About The Position
The Survey Instrument Operator will be responsible for collecting data using company standards for descriptions and line coding, and assisting the Party Chief in running field operations. This role involves operating and maintaining various surveying instruments to measure and verify elevations, angles, and distances. The operator will also coordinate with office staff and clients, adhere to survey regulations and company procedures, monitor accurate completion of daily tasks, perform mathematical calculations, and interpret maps and blueprints. Additionally, they will clean and adjust survey instruments, oversee surveying activities in the absence of the Survey Party Chief, and perform related work as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of utilizing data collectors, robotic and non-robotic total stations and GPS equipment.
- 1+ years of experience in land surveying
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Must be willing and able to travel as required for the role.
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.

Responsibilities
- Collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
- Assist Party Chief in running field operations.
- Operate and maintain various surveying instruments, such as transits, level, theodolite, and electronic distance measuring equipment to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances.
- Coordinate with office staff and clients as required.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal survey regulations as well as Accura Engineering procedures.
- Monitor accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections.
- Perform mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.
- Interpret maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
- Clean, check and adjust survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.
- Oversee surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.
- Perform related work as required.
