About The Position

We’re seeking a Survey Field Technician who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems on the fly, and collecting precise data that brings land development projects to life. You’ll work alongside experienced surveyors and engineers, using GPS, total stations, and other equipment to support boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of field surveying experience preferred
  • Experience operating GPS units, total stations, and data collectors
  • Familiarity with Trimble equipment is a plus
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and instruments
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods, bend, twist, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to project sites
  • Understanding of OSHA safety standards and Illinois labor laws
  • Commitment to professional integrity and non-discrimination policies

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Trimble equipment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction staking surveys using GPS, total stations, and data collectors
  • Accurately collect and record field data in accordance with project requirements
  • Collaborate with the Survey Crew Chief, project teams, and contractors to ensure precise data collection and staking
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot field equipment as needed
  • Read and interpret survey notes, plans, and maps to guide fieldwork
  • Ensure all field activities follow company standards, OSHA safety procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Travel to job sites daily; work in a variety of field conditions and weather environments
