About The Position

This person is responsible for the operation of a field survey crew. They will organize field work, direct crew members, maintain a safe work environment, protect and maintain equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features, deliver data to the office, and maintain accurate records of work and expenses. The role will primarily be in the central Virginia region.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
3 years progressive experience in survey field operations with no less than 1 year as a survey crew chief.
Experienced performing Construction Staking, Topographic and Boundary Surveying for Civil Site Land Development.
Good technical skills: behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment).
Some overnight travel may be required.
Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

Operate field survey crews working primarily on projects in central Virginia (Norfolk).
Organize field work with objectives including quality (accuracy, thoroughness, clarity, meet regulatory requirements, public relations), safety, meeting schedules, meeting budgets, and providing responsive service to clients.
Accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features.
Deliver data to the office.
Maintain accurate records of work and expenses.
Perform construction staking, topographic, and boundary surveying for civil site land development.
Walk outside year-round through all kinds of terrain and in extreme heat and cold.
