About The Position

CAGE Civil Engineering is a trusted leader in civil engineering, land surveying, and construction management, known for delivering high-quality land development consulting services. CAGE is seeking an experienced and motivated Land Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations for construction layout, ALTA, boundary, and topographic surveys. This role involves supervising survey crews, operating Trimble GPS and robotic total stations, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of fieldwork. It is suitable for a Senior Survey Technician or Assistant Crew Chief ready for a leadership role, or a current Crew Chief seeking a more entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will lead various projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate closely with project managers and engineers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of land surveying experience, with at least 2 in a leadership/supervisory role
  • Proficient with GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, survey notes, and construction drawings
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Surveying or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey software (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct fieldwork for boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-built, and construction layout surveys
  • Supervise, train, and mentor field crew members
  • Operate and maintain Trimble GPS and robotic total station equipment
  • Ensure accuracy in data collection, field notes, and measurements
  • Interpret and execute survey instructions from project managers and engineers
  • Coordinate field activities and communicate project needs with the office team
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures on-site
  • Assist with process improvements and implement new survey technologies
  • Represent CAGE professionally on job sites and with clients
