About The Position

A Survey Crew Chief is responsible for the operation of a field survey crew. This role involves organizing field work, directing crew members, maintaining a safe work environment, protecting and maintaining equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collecting field data and locating features, delivering data to the office, and maintaining accurate records of work and expenses. The position requires a significant amount of outdoor work year-round through various terrains and in extreme weather conditions.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
3 years progressive experience in survey field operations with no less than 1 year as a survey crew chief.
Good technical skills: behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
Proficiency with survey equipment (total stations, data collectors and GPS equipment).
Some overnight travel may be required.
Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

Operation of a field survey crew.
Organize field work with objectives including quality (accuracy, thoroughness, clarity, regulatory compliance, public relations), safety, meeting schedules, meeting budgets, and providing responsive client service.
Accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features.
Deliver data to the office.
Maintain accurate records of work and expenses.
Protect and maintain equipment and vehicles.
