SURVEY COORDINATOR SUMMARY: Coordinates work of the survey parties to meet project requirements assigning and directing work of field crews and ensuring accuracy through training and guidance. THIS POSITION HAS BEEN DESIGNATED AS SAFETY SENSITIVE

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA) or higher from an accredited four-year college or university; two-year college; or technical school; OR five years related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must have ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Must be able to identify, record and complete survey calculations.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be skilled in using all types of survey equipment and be able to record, store and interpret data using equipment capabilities.
  • Individual should have knowledge of industry standard software, including but not limited to, computer aided drafting and GIS.
  • Must possess a valid driver license and have a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • It is highly desirable that the incumbent be qualified in the use of Global Positioning Survey equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Writes legal descriptions for right-of-way, deeds, easements, and other survey actions to meet legal requirements.
  • Performs calculations from survey party notes and data collection for application to mapping or legal descriptions.
  • Assist survey party when needed.
  • Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.
  • Coordinates work of the survey parties to meet project requirements.
  • Ensures all projects are completed according to plan schedules, company policy and production standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance, calibration, inventory, and readiness of survey equipment, software, tools, vehicles, and field supplies.
  • Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
  • Coordinates findings with Project Coordinator, clients, and others concerned with project.
  • Performs special assignments as directed by Survey Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides technical and operational mentorship to survey crews and technicians by planning, assigning, and directing daily work.
  • Oversees employee training and development, manages field resources, equipment, software, and supplies, reviews timesheets, supports project execution, and resolves operational and personnel issues to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.
