Survey CADD Operator
About The Position
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Survey CADD Operator to join our Survey/Geospatial team in Houston, TX. In this role, you'll work closely with a Surveyor In Training (SIT) and a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) to transform field survey data into accurate, high-quality drawings that support land development and infrastructure projects. Requirements
- High School Diploma/Equivalent; Associates Degree or a Certificate from a technical school, preferably in AutoCAD.
- 1-3 years of related drafting experience OR survey field experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with survey staff in an in-person, mentorship-oriented production environment.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Carlson Survey, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or Trimble Business Center is highly preferred.
- Survey field personnel interested in transitioning into office production are encouraged to apply. Training and mentorship will be provided to help translate field surveying knowledge into survey CAD production.
Responsibilities
- Ability to draft parcels, or subdivision boundaries from legal descriptions using CAD techniques (Carlson Survey, or Civil 3D).
- Possesses basic to intermediate AutoCAD drafting skills and aptitude.
- Ability to prepare survey drawings and deliverables for topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary surveys, construction surveys, exhibits, elevation certificates, and related survey projects.
- Ability to read and plot Legal descriptions.
- Performs drafting of portions of routine projects under direction of Surveyor In Training (SIT) and Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS).
- Understands surveying terminology.
- Prepare a variety of survey products.
- Plot record deeds, plats, easements, and other record documents.
- Compare record information against field evidence.
- Follow company CAD standards, layer standards, symbols, and field-to-finish conventions.
- Coordinate with SIT, RPLS, field crews, and other survey staff to resolve discrepancies.
