About The Position

Expanding Michigan firm with a critical role for a Survey CAD Technician is hiring in Rochester Hills! This role involves performing basic mathematics calculations, detailing construction plans, and maintaining uniformity in work products by following CAD Standards and Operating Procedures. The technician will also review plans for accuracy, estimate man-hours for CAD projects, process engineering calculations and site plan/utility layouts with minimal supervision, and process existing/proposed profiles. Additionally, the role includes plotting legal descriptions for parcels, easements, and rights-of-way, importing survey data into Civil 3D, producing various types of surveys (boundary, topographical, ALTA, as-built), and generating stake-out coordinates/plot information for the field crew.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or minimum of five years of civil engineering/surveying computer aided drafting experience
  • 2+ years of professional CAD experience
  • Ability to use station offset methods to set points
  • Solid understanding of metric system with ability to convert between metric and English
  • Experience reading/comprehending simple instructions, correspondence and memos
  • Experience presenting information to in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015, Microstation V8, and GeoPAK preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic mathematics calculations (pipe slopes, areas, volumes, etc.)
  • Detail/develop construction plans
  • Maintain uniformity in work products by reading/following CAD Standards and Operating Procedures (standards, conventions, guidelines)
  • Review/check plans for accuracy
  • Provide an estimate of man hours required to complete CAD projects
  • Process engineering calculations and site plan/utility layout with minimal supervision
  • Process existing/proposed profiles
  • Plot legal descriptions for parcels, easement, and right of ways
  • Import survey data into Civil 3D
  • Produce boundary, topographical, ALTA and as-built surveys
  • Generate stake-out coordinates/plot information for field crew
