About The Position

We are currently seeking candidates for the Survey CAD Technician (Intermediate/Senior) position. You will be a key member of our Reality Capture Team within the Data Integration Services Practice. You will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, preparing advanced survey calculations, mentoring junior staff, and supporting our public-sector clients (federal, provincial, and municipal), Indigenous communities, and private-sector partners. The successful candidate can be based at any one of our following offices: Halifax, NS, and Saint John, NB.

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5-10+ years of professional field surveying experience, preferably in the consulting industry, or technical program equivalent.
  • Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and drawing coordination
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced survey CAD drafting, 3D modelling, and surface building capabilities.
  • Calculating survey plans, reviewing building plans, and collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Complex problem-solving and applying critical thinking to translate processed field data into precise digital deliverables.
  • Utilizing advanced Civil 3D, Revit, and digital drafting tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills and technical leadership.
  • Demonstrated abilities in the use of Autodesk software (Civil 3D, Revit, etc.) are an asset.
  • Demonstrated abilities in the use of ESRI GIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) are an asset.
  • Report writing, organization, and interpersonal skills are assets.
  • Versatile, adaptable, and willing to conduct a variety of tasks.
  • Experience with deliverables derived from RPAS (drones) and/or 3D laser scanning point clouds is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the following programs and programming languages is an asset: Pix4D, Power BI, CityEngine, Python, ArcPy, JavaScript, and Arcade.

Responsibilities

  • Receive processed and QA/QC'd geospatial data to calculate detailed survey plans, review building plans, and calculate precise gridline layouts.
  • Build, analyze, and manipulate accurate digital terrain surfaces and 3D models using advanced drafting software.
  • Provide senior-level support to the design team regarding coordinate systems, geodetic datums, and adjustments to survey data.
  • Manage the import and export of processed geospatial data and establish rigorous methodologies for CAD drafting workflows.
  • Evaluate, test, and implement new geospatial office tools and applications, including drafting software and cloud data platforms.
  • Supervise the quality of CAD drawings and digital deliverables, helping to develop, inform, and implement best practices for drafting workflows, quality control, and data management.
  • Oversee the organization, tracking, and archiving of digital survey records and drawing databases.
  • Providing GIS technical support is an asset.
