About The Position

Our client is seeking Survey Assistants in the Calgary/Edmonton region. This role is for individuals who are excited by adventure, learning new things, and the opportunity to travel and work on projects outdoors. The company supports career development and has a safety-first culture. The ideal candidate is passionate about fieldwork, adaptable, productive, and possesses high physical abilities. They should be organized, collaborative, have strong communication skills, and a positive attitude. Familiarity with equipment and field tools, along with a respect for the outdoors, is important for timely task completion.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Surveying or other related types of work in the great outdoors.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly for the client, project, and client requirements.
  • Commitment to respond to situations that occur outside traditional working hours.
  • Capacity to take directions and communicate effectively.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract and background check.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.
  • Arrive at work on time and prepared for the assigned task and shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma/Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred, not required.
  • An understanding of survey methodologies is considered an asset.
  • Completed training and valid tickets in First Aid, H2S and CSTS safety training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with various tasks as required.
  • Track and maintain housekeeping of tools, equipment, and materials at project sites, office, and in crew vehicles.
  • Support a positive and professional team atmosphere and act as a positive ambassador for the company.
  • Assist Crew Chief in achieving project timelines and deliverables.
  • Complete mandatory safety training and practice competent operation of all equipment and tasks.
  • Adhere to, without exception, the safety requirements of the client, OH&S, and the client's Safety program.
  • Actively participate in Emergency Response Planning, Hazard Assessment, Job Safety Analysis development, daily tailgate meetings, and comply with all safety requirements.
