About The Position

Peraton is seeking a technically focused Project Manager – Surveillance & Radar Systems to lead critical initiatives supporting FAA surveillance capabilities and NAS infrastructure. This role is ideal for a strong project leader with experience working with FAA Technical Operations, Airway Transportation Systems Specialists (ATSS), and mission-critical aviation systems. The National Airspace System (NAS) depends on highly reliable surveillance, radar, communications, navigation, and automation systems. As a Project Manager, you will lead the people and projects responsible for sustaining and modernizing these critical capabilities. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s with 6 years, Associate’s with 10 years, or HS diploma/equivalent with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Project leadership experience supporting surveillance, radar, or related NAS systems.
  • FAA Technical Operations (TechOps) experience required, including direct experience with TSOG and/or ATSS supporting mission-critical NAS infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with airport surveillance/radar systems, including system architecture, hardware/software, interfaces, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
  • Experience coordinating installation, modification, system acceptance, and field deployment activities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, mitigate risks, and deliver results in complex, mission-critical environments.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA TechOps, TSOG, or ATSS experience; SMR/ASDE experience highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting FAA NextGen, NAS modernization, or federal aviation programs.
  • Experience managing federal modernization or large-scale enterprise programs.
  • Familiarity with FAA standards, facility directives, and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of risk management, budgeting, and program governance.
  • Experience with FAA Technical Operations (AJW) and the technical workforce responsible for maintaining the NAS.
  • FAA ATSS experience or direct experience supporting ATSS personnel.
  • Knowledge of surveillance and radar systems, including radar and ADS-B.
  • Familiarity with FAA communications, navigation, automation, power, and environmental systems.
  • Understanding of FAA technical training, facility-level certifications, and system-specific qualifications.
  • Experience working within a mission-critical, highly regulated FAA or aviation environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of projects supporting surveillance, radar, and related NAS systems.
  • Manage priorities, resources, schedules, risks, and deliverables to achieve program objectives.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and drive collaboration, accountability, and mission success.
  • Partner with FAA Technical Operations, ATSS personnel, engineers, system vendors, and program leadership.
  • Manage stakeholder communication, requirements, action items, and project status.
  • Identify risks and technical challenges and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Develop project roadmaps, schedules, reports, and other program documentation.
  • Support modernization, system integration, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure work meets FAA, technical, quality, schedule, and mission requirements.
