About The Position

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Excel
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to execute tasks independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to gather and interpret moderately complex data
  • Ability to collaborate and work with a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1-year professional work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance industry including admitted vs. non-admitted markets is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual tax reconciliation to help facilitate division monetary transfers
  • Assist with filing tax reports on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis; involves running reports and verifying data to ensure accuracy of information and ensuring all state filing deadlines are met
  • Reconcile and correct discrepancies between internal and state tax reports, and between tax reports and division accounting records. Includes working with filing teams to correct filing errors and division accounting contacts to correct invoicing errors
  • Update internal systems and reporting databases with tax filing status
  • Prepare and submit state zero surplus lines business reports for individual producers as required, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met
  • Assist at the direction of Compliance Management with surplus lines state audits or inquiries – verifying transactions, documents, and filings
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Research, monitor, and implement any changes required to ensure compliance with each state’s surplus lines tax filing requirements
