About The Position

Join Our Team at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. We’re looking for dedicated Surgical Technology professionals to join our team. We have 5(8)s, 4(10)s and 3(12)s plus call available. Join us and help us live our mission: To Heal, To Teach, To Discover. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Graduated Accredited Surg Tech Program
  • Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency)
  • Use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies. (Required proficiency)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
  • Ability to use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required within 90 Days)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Surg Tech preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.
  • Provide patient care/function in a primary scrub position.
  • Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures.
  • Assure appropriate instruments/supplies are present and in proper working condition.
  • Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field.
  • Support the operative team, includes following patient care hand off protocol.
  • Actively participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Involved in learning and self-improvement.
