About The Position

We’re looking for dedicated Surgical Technology professionals to join our team at University Hospitals Ahuja L & D unit. We have a part-time role available, a 12 hour shift per week rotating between days and nights as well the ability to pick up shifts occasionally. The Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and ensures that all instruments and supplies are available and properly handled. This is the first level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• completion of a military Surgical Technologist training program
• Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture and surgical procedures.
• Use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies.
• Good communication skills
• Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required within 90 Days)

Responsibilities

• Provide safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.
• Provide patient care/function in a primary scrub position.
• Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures.
• Assure appropriate instruments/supplies are present and in proper working condition.
• Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field.
• Support the operative team, includes following patient care hand off protocol.
• Actively participate in the quality improvement process.
• Involved in learning and self-improvement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
• For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
