About The Position

The Surgical Technologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital plays a vital role in the operating room by preparing and maintaining the surgical environment and assisting with the peri-operative care of patients. Surgical Techs work closely with surgeons, nurses, and the broader care team to support safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical procedures. This role requires strong knowledge of sterile technique, attention to detail, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program
  • Current Surgical Technologist Certification required within one year from the date of graduation from a surgical technologist program OR candidates must meet one of the following criteria: Have been employed as a surgical technologist in a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013 OR Have successfully completed a surgical technology training program through the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or the United States Public Health Service
  • Requirements are in accordance with Massachusetts Senate Bill 2058 (December 2012)
  • Graduates who have not yet obtained certification will have one year from the date of graduation to become certified.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of Surgical Technology experience
  • Associate degree preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care setting preferred
  • Committee participation and leadership experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
