About The Position

Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Surgical Technologist to join us in our new UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center. This role involves working in a technological, fast-paced, and exciting department, utilizing knowledge of equipment operations and skillfully maintaining instruments and supplies. The Surgeons at Harborview are world-renowned. The new Outpatient Surgery Center, opening January 2026 on the Harborview Campus, will feature 5 operating rooms, 12 pre/post bays, and sterile processing. It will provide daytime surgical procedures to the community, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment in a soothing environment with natural lighting and patient privacy. The goal is to provide a seamless, low-stress surgical experience for each patient, surgeon, and staff member.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND one year of experience assisting clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures in an operating room environment OR equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in the patient care experience by prepping and maintaining our Operating Rooms for surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and partners, from our scheduling team to surgeons
  • Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, problem-solving environment while maintaining vigilance of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures
  • Perform scrub role while supporting patient safety a sterile environment
  • Support of post-operative tasks, including removal of contaminated instruments, decontamination, sterilization and turnover of the Operating Room
