This role performs technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas, ensuring that proper technical practices are employed according to accepted standards of process. It involves providing proper maintenance, assembly, handling and sterilization techniques of specialty instrumentation, and assisting Registered Professional Nurses in the implementing of the intra-operative phase of nursing practice. The position also includes performing the duties of a scrub or circulating person, compiling accurate and complete documentation of surgical cases, and participating in the orientation of new operating room personnel. Additionally, the role involves participating in staff development through in-service education programs, conferences, and research projects, as well as nursing/hospital committees. The position accepts on-call rotation and performs job functions adhering to service principles with a customer service focus of innovation, service excellence, and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to patients, families, co-workers, and others. Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high level disinfection, and sterilization if required as part of the responsibilities of the role.
