Requirements

  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required.
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado (or performing functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration).
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.
  • Medium Work - Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
  • Experience in a specialty field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Pass items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
  • Assist in preparing and moving patients.
  • Sterilize and clean instruments, equipment, and rooms.
  • Scrub on all cases, primarily GEN, Ortho trauma/totals, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN, ENT, Urology, and Spine cases.
  • Give breaks and/or provide additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
  • Assist with room turnover and restocking for the next day’s cases.
  • Act as an advocate for the patient before, during, and after surgery.
  • Cover call every night from 9pm to 7am, with an average call requirement of 7 nights per schedule period.
  • Maintain a 30-minute callback radius when on call.

  • $400/month Summit County housing stipend available for full-time residents of Summit, Park, Eagle, Grand, Clear Creek or Lake Counties (must work at least 80% physically on-site at a CommonSpirit facility in Summit County and be full-time or part-time status; PRN ineligible).
