Surgical Technologist - CST
About The Position
The Surgical Technologist will utilize the principles and practices of surgical asepsis in the preparation of surgical instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile field and passing instruments to surgeons within the sterile field. This role anticipates the needs of the surgeon by demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures and the anatomy and physiology of the human body. The Operating Room at Chelsea performs over 5,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries annually in various fields including gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, otorhinolaryngology, podiatry, plastic surgery, and spine surgery.
Requirements
- Graduation from a certified surgical technologist program.
- Surgical Technologist Certification is required within six months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the principles and practices of surgical asepsis in the preparation of surgical instruments and supplies.
- Maintains a sterile field.
- Passes instruments to surgeons within the sterile field.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures and the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
