About The Position

Progress West Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join their team. This role involves performing surgical duties in the operating room under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The ideal candidate will provide excellent and safe care in a fast-paced environment, with previous surgery experience being preferred. The Surgical Services department at Progress West Hospital includes 3 ORs and supports a full range of inpatient and outpatient surgery programs, including General surgery, ENT, Orthopedics, Urology, Colorectal, Gynecology, Gastrointestinal (GI), and Plastic surgery. The department upholds the hospital's guiding principles of providing customized care that reflects patient needs, values, and choices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• <2 years or military equivalent experience
• Surgical Technician (License/Certification)

Nice To Haves

• Previous surgery experience is preferred.
• Accredited Surgical Program (Education)

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
