ST - Surgical Technologist - PRN Days
About The Position
The Surgical Technologist works in Surgical Services at UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair on a PRN day schedule. The role facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures by preparing the operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies, assisting with patient preparation and positioning, and supporting the surgical team during procedures. The technologist maintains organized instruments, monitors and tracks counts, and assists surgeons with hemostasis. UAB St. Vincent’s is part of UAB Medicine and serves Alabama through hospitals and clinics. Requirements
- High school diploma equivalency and completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component, or a minimum of four years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
- BLS Provider certification is preferred; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.

- Associate’s degree or technical degree preferred.
- BLS Provider certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
- Prepare the surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
- Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
- Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
- Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instrument counts throughout procedures.
- Assist surgeons with the provision of hemostasis during surgery.
