About The Position
The Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room plays a crucial role in ensuring quality patient care, safety, and advocacy. This position involves critical thinking, anticipation and management of case-specific needs under the direct supervision of the RN. The technologist is responsible for the complete, accurate, and timely care, cleanliness, and management of instruments, equipment, and supplies. Effective communication with the team, co-workers, and patients in a positive and professional manner is essential. This role also requires taking personal responsibility for performance, professional growth, and development, as well as demonstrating cost containment activities for instruments and inventory.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Surgical Technology program.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in specialty area preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Demonstrates effective, positive, professional manners while exercising verbal and nonverbal communication to the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
- Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.
