Riverside Smithfield Hospital, opening in early 2026, is a new 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility located on a 27-acre medical campus. It offers a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, and 4 Operating Rooms. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team shaping the future of healthcare in Smithfield, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a state-of-the-art environment. The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of OR leadership, assisting with the coordination of nursing care for patients in the operating room and functioning as a team member of the surgical team. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining equipment, instrumentation, and supplies on the sterile field, utilizing simple to complex equipment, and cleaning/replenishing equipment and supplies to maintain quality patient care. The role also involves participating in quality patient assurance, in-service, and customer service programs, handling and managing specimens and surgical counts, and acting as a service expert. The position requires monitoring the surgical schedule for equipment and supply needs, preparing for daily case readiness, supporting the Specialty Nurse with surgeon preference cards, and identifying, communicating, and educating on service changes. The role is expected to float among RHS facilities and perform like competencies. Surgical privileges are established by the surgery department and medical staff and approved by the governing body.
