About The Position

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for supporting the surgical team in the Operating Room under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and circulating nurse. This role ensures the maintenance of a sterile environment, assists during surgical procedures, and contributes to safe and effective patient care in accordance with AORN standards and facility policies.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or military surgical technology training
Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required
Current Surgical Technologist Certification required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques
Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Professional attitude with a focus on patient-centered care
Active state license required

Nice To Haves

Experience in Cesarean Sections, Orthopedic, General, and Vascular surgery preferred
Experience with Meditech EMR is preferred

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures
Assist surgeons during operations by anticipating needs and providing instruments and supplies
Perform surgical counts (sponges, sharps, instruments) in accordance with protocol
Handle, prepare, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
Assist with patient positioning, draping, and intraoperative care
Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control policies
Identify medications and solutions accurately with the surgical team
Support cleaning, sterilization, and proper storage of instruments
Respond effectively to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
