About The Position

The Surgical Technologist will possess a thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and its application. They will assist in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior to, during, and after surgical procedures. The role involves assisting the Registered Nurse circulator in patient preparation, assembly of supplies, instruments, and equipment, and proper disposition of all specimens. The technologist will also assist with all aspects of room turnover and perform duties according to department policy and procedure. Additionally, they will monitor surgical supplies for sterility, ensure judicious use of supplies, and accurately document and submit charges. Monitoring and documenting sterilization activities, attending in-services/staff meetings, participating in Performance Improvement Processes, and assisting in the development of policies and procedures are also key aspects of this role. The position requires participation in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet personal needs and goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology required or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist.

  • Current certification preferred.
