About The Position

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist at Wyoming Lakes Hospital located in Wyoming, MN. This is a 0.8 FTE, benefits-eligible opening, day/evening rotating shift with Saturday/Sunday call every 8-12 weeks and one weeknight call per pay period with the ability to pick up nights/weekends as needed. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.

Requirements

  • Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
  • 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
  • Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work well under a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
  • Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
  • Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
  • Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room in readiness of next patient.
  • Aligns with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Cultivates a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
