Surgical Technologist - Straight Weekends
About The Position
Surgical technologists are integral members of the team providing surgical care to patients. At Sanford Health’s Level 1 Trauma center in Fargo, the role supports a wide variety of surgical cases, including general, trauma, bariatric, urology, gynecology, robotics, cardiovascular, plastic, ear-nose-throat, oral, pediatric, neuro, peripheral vascular, and adult and pediatric orthopedic trauma procedures. The surgical technologist assists surgeons during procedures by preparing and organizing operating-room instruments and supplies and anticipating the surgeon’s needs. The schedule is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., for 36 scheduled hours per week.
Requirements
- Graduate from an approved school for Surgical Technology.
- Obtain and maintain state and national certification as a Surgical Technologist by the time employment begins.
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first 60 days of employment in the position.
- If working in North Dakota, be listed on the North Dakota Board of Nursing Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry when employment begins.
Responsibilities
- Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures.
- Prepare and organize operating-room instruments and supplies.
- Anticipate the surgeon’s needs during procedures.
