North Carolina Specialty Hospital (NCSH) is seeking a PRN Surgical Technologist to assist in surgical operations under the guidance of surgeons, registered nurse(s), or additional O.R. personnel. This role involves performing scrub activities based on principles of aseptic technique, infection control, universal precautions, and safety guidelines. The Surgical Technologist will anticipate the needs of the patient and surgeon, demonstrate critical thinking, and prioritize activities in the scrub role. They will also assist in preparing medications for procedures, understand routine intra-operative drugs, dosages, and routes of administration. The position requires preparing and operating equipment, instrumentation, and supplies, initiating service requests, and reporting equipment malfunctions. Maintaining updated preference cards using automated processes and clinical information systems is also a key responsibility. The role emphasizes adherence to hospital policies, identifying and mitigating patient risks, demonstrating the hospital's philosophy and values, and applying customer service and continuous quality improvement principles. Maintaining patient confidentiality, fostering positive working relationships, and complying with National Patient Safety Goals are essential. The Surgical Technologist must demonstrate respect for diverse backgrounds and follow universal precautions and infection control guidelines.
