About The Position

The Surgical Technologist primarily functions in the scrub role, responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. This position requires knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and surgical instrumentation.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers through the AHA or Red Cross.
  • CST Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter (with specific exceptions for certain locations/dates prior to 11/20/2024 and 10/15/2014).

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon.
  • Functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
  • Possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique and is able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting.
  • Utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as a member of the surgical team.
