About The Position

Become part of an outstanding surgical care team at BJC’s Barnes‑Jewish West County Hospital Surgery Center as a Surgical Technologist, where your skills make a meaningful difference every day. Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• <2 years or military equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

• Surgical Technologist Experience or accredited schooling preferred
• Accredited Surgical Program
• Surgical Technician

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
