About The Position

The Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) supports perioperative services by preparing OR suites, maintaining sterile fields, assisting surgeons during procedures, and ensuring compliance with infection control and patient safety standards. This role is essential to operational readiness and quality surgical care in a government healthcare setting.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program OR military equivalent (68D, HM8483, 4N1X1).
  • Current CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • 3–5 years recent Surgical Tech experience, including 6 months within the past year.
  • EMR and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Ability to meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
  • Ability to stand/sit extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card holder.
  • Valid U.S. Passport with minimum 18 months before expiration.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain MRPT security clearance.
  • Must relocate for assignment duration.
  • English fluency required.

  • Prior military site or government contractor healthcare experience.
  • Trauma, austere, or deployed surgical environment experience.
  • Mass casualty or emergency preparedness experience.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prep OR rooms, instruments, sterile supplies, and surgical equipment.
  • Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
  • Assist with patient positioning and intraoperative support.
  • Pass instruments/supplies during surgical procedures.
  • Monitor sterile technique and communicate patient condition changes.
  • Clean, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments/equipment.
  • Assist with post-op transfer and OR turnover.
  • Complete procedure documentation and supply tracking.
  • Participate in Mass Casualty exercises/readiness events.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and clinical staff.
