Requirements

  • Prepare the operating room, keep tools and equipment sterile, and work directly with surgeons during operations.
  • Hand instruments to the surgical team, track supplies like sponges and needles, and help manage patient safety before, during, and after surgery.
  • Clean and sterilize the operating room and surgical tools.
  • Set up sterile instrument tables and equipment.
  • Perform a surgical hand scrub, then put on sterile gowns and gloves.
  • Help prep and position the patient on the operating table.
  • Scrub in to maintain a strict sterile field.
  • Hand tools, suction tips, sutures, and supplies to the surgeon quickly.
  • Anticipate the surgeon's next needs based on the procedure.
  • Count instruments, needles, and sponges with the nurse to ensure nothing is left behind.
  • Apply dressings and bandages to the patient's wounds.
  • Clear and collect used instruments for proper cleaning and sterilization.
  • Restock the room and prepare for the next procedure.
