About The Position

Michigan Surgical is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our full-time clinical team. As an integral member of the surgical team, you will ensure the highest standard of patient care by providing and controlling the sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required during surgical interventions. This position offers an excellent quality of life with a steady Monday-through-Friday daylight schedule and no on-call rotations. To support our busy teams across both surgery centers, travel is required between our Troy and Utica locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of surgical experience is required.
  • Active BLS certification is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have reliable transportation and willingness to travel/float between our Troy and Utica surgery centers as scheduled.
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic principles, sterilization, and disinfection techniques.
  • Ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs, remain calm under pressure, and speak up confidently regarding patient safety issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Surgical Technologist certification is preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Opens sterile supplies and prepares for operative procedures.
  • Sets up table, instruments and supplies according to the type of surgical procedure.
  • Applies principles of asepsis. Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques.
  • Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon during procedure.
  • Works within established scope of practice.
  • Utilizes universal precautions when providing patient care.
  • Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies according to procedures.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Assists with cleaning and maintenance of rooms, equipment, and furniture.
  • Assists with inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Supports and adheres to all company and Surgery Center policies and procedures, Codes of Conduct, Ethics, Compliance, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Participates in Best Practices, Quality/Risk Initiatives and other committees to improve patient care.
  • Keeps management informed of any malfunctions in instruments, equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains clinical competencies and knowledge and the ability to perform intra-operative care.
  • Maintains accountability for customer satisfaction.
