Surgical Technologist (ST) - Operating Room
About The Position
This Surgical Technologist (ST) position is in the Operating Room at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. The role is benefits-eligible and requires a 40-hour work week. The Surgical Technologist ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking and management of case-specific needs under the supervision of an RN. They are responsible for the cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment, and supplies, and communicate effectively with the team, co-workers, and patients. The role also involves taking personal responsibility for performance and professional growth, and demonstrating cost containment activities related to instruments and inventory.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
- Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations

Responsibilities
- Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Demonstrates effective, positive, professional manners while exercising verbal and nonverbal communication to the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
- Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.
