Horizons Program SMH - Surgical Technologist Student
About The Position
The Memorial Horizons Program provides students enrolled in a Surgical Technology degree program with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive financial support, and secure a pathway to employment at Springfield Memorial Hospital after graduation. Individuals selected for the Horizons Program will work at Springfield Memorial Hospital as a per diem colleague, committing to work 16 hours per month while attending school. This allows participants to gain valuable hands-on experience, work alongside Memorial clinicians, and prepare them for their careers at Memorial after graduation. Graduates of the Horizons Program will be placed in full-time Surgical Technologist role designated by Memorial Health upon meeting all graduation and licensing requirements. Participants must commit to working at Springfield Memorial Hospital for three years after graduation.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in the first year of a Surgical Technologist program and will graduate in May 2027
- Enrolled in an accredited allied health program that aligns with Memorial’s workforce needs
- Maintain the minimum required GPA
- Completed all prerequisite coursework
- Complete an employment application
- Complete an interview
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Receive no active corrective actions during their employment
- Exhibit behaviors that align with Memorial’s values to remain eligible
Responsibilities

Benefits
- Bi-weekly stipend of $1,000.00 during the second year of their program (August 2026-May 2027)
