About The Position

Under direct supervision of a registered nurse, performs the duties of a primary or secondary surgical technologist in surgical procedures. This is a full-time day shift position with no weekends, but call is required. The position is located at the Surgery - Yale Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role has been identified as a safety-sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act.

Requirements

Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program accredited by Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) or by the State.
Certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
CPR certification.
0-2 years of related experience.
Basic knowledge of aseptic technique.
Ability to prepare and maintain a sterile field.
Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Creates and maintains sterile field, anticipates and provides instrumentation and supplies necessary to perform surgery.
Facilitates patient flow through case turnover.
Performs environmental activities to maintain asepsis of operating room.
Anticipates needs in instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies according to technique procedure, and special requirements.
Maintains correct sponge, needle, and instrument count with registered nurse and reports discrepancies as policy requires.
Performs high level disinfection.
Develops and demonstrates competency in specialty team cases and can serve as a preceptor.
Demonstrates competencies in multiple specialties.
Makes changes in surgeon's preference cards per surgeon requests to keep them current.
