Surgical Technologist - Obstetrics (Per Diem, Variable)
About The Position
Adventist Health Delano is a full-service community and regional teaching hospital focused on growth and technological expertise since 1974. We are comprised of a 156-bed medical center serving 10 rural Central California cities with primary and specialty care services. This role facilitates the physician's performance of invasive and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures, ensures quality patient care, and monitors the maintenance of the sterile field.
Requirements
- Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
- Certified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification: Required
Nice To Haves
- Relevant acute care experience: Preferred
- National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified: Preferred
Responsibilities
- Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to assigned operating room.
- Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure.
- Anticipates surgeon’s needs of additional supplies.
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
- Prepares sterile dressings.
- Secures dressings after incision closure.
- Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
- Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
- Helps drape sterile field.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Assists other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover.
- Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
