About The Position

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to support obstetric and surgical services within a fast-paced hospital environment. This role is responsible for assisting with surgical procedures, supporting obstetric patient registration and care processes, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-focused surgical environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong surgical scrub experience, knowledge of obstetric workflows, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative clinical setting.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program required
  • Grandfathered status recognized per state regulations accepted where applicable
  • Surgical Technician license required
  • Must be registered with the State of Virginia
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required
  • Basic computer proficiency required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including: Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching
  • Lifting patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Surgical Technologist experience preferred
  • One to two years of scrub or hospital experience preferred
  • Previous obstetric or C-section scrub experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Scrub and assist during C-section procedures and other surgical cases
  • Prepare surgical suites, instruments, and equipment prior to procedures
  • Assist physicians, nurses, and surgical teams during operative procedures
  • Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control standards
  • Demonstrate knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile techniques
  • Register and pre-register obstetric patients accurately and efficiently
  • Process patient information and maintain accurate documentation
  • Support patient flow and departmental coordination
  • Perform infant testing and related tasks under the direction of the Registered Nurse
  • Assist with newborn care support activities as assigned
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare staff
  • Maintain cleanliness and integrity of equipment and work areas
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
