About The Position

Olympic Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the care and preparation of surgical patients. This role functions as a member of the surgical team, responsible for creating and maintaining a sterile field. The technologist will be knowledgeable about instruments, supplies, and equipment used during surgical procedures, and will understand the procedure being performed to anticipate the needs of the surgeon. The position requires knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and the ability to assess and interpret patient status to meet age-specific needs, providing care according to department policies and procedures.

Requirements

Graduate of a school for training as surgical technologist OR Minimum one-year recent surgical technologist experience OR Minimum one-year recent central service technician experience OR Minimum two-years recent OR/Endo Support assistant experience (for Surgical Technologist: OR)
Graduate of a school for training as a surgical technologist OR Minimum one year recent endoscopy experience OR Minimum 6 months’ clinical experience in a healthcare setting (for Surgical Technologist: Endoscopy)
Current Washington State registration as a Surgical Technologist, required.
BLS required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Assists in the care and preparation of the surgical patient.
Functions as a member of the surgical team creating and maintaining a sterile field.
Possesses knowledge of instruments, supplies, and equipment used during a surgical procedure.
Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs.
Provides care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
