About The Position

Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the OR department. This PRN position is for day shifts. The role involves preparing the surgical suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies, handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery, assisting with patient preparation, transport, positioning, and draping. The technologist will also maintain instruments in an organized manner, track instrument counts, and assist surgeons with hemostasis during surgery.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

Neurology experience
Surgical Technology degree
1 -2 years in main OR

Responsibilities

Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.
Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
