About The Position

The UW Medical Center-Montlake Operating Rooms have an outstanding opportunity for a Surgical Technologist Lead. This is a Full-Time position with 40 hours per week, working Day Shifts (10-hour shifts). The Lead will serve as a clinical resource for RN 2s, Surgical Technologists, Hospital Assistants, PCTs and EVS staff. Responsibilities include directing room set-ups for the following day, ensuring rooms are properly cleaned and equipment is in place, and being responsible for the care, maintenance, and proper storage of OR equipment. The Lead will also provide teaching or arrange in-services for learning needs related to equipment and OR furniture, and participate in the coordination and orientation of new staff.

Requirements

Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND three years of experience as a Surgical Technologist OR equivalent education/experience.
Registered by the State of Washington as a Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and perform as a surgical scrub technologist (as needed for emergent cases), including the collection and preparation of equipment, instruments, and supplies necessary for surgical procedures
Review Preference Cards to ensure items are readily available for the surgical procedures
Assist with cleaning the OR, including mopping the floor, wiping down all surfaces, disposing of trash and waste, and instrument cleaning and processing
Train, assign, provide direction, and check the work of RN 2s, Surgical Technologists and HAs in the preparation of operating rooms for surgical procedures; provides direction to PCTs, Hospital Assistants and EVS Staff
Manage the daily schedule on assigned shift
Serve as a Clinical Resource and role model for following UWMC policies and procedures for room turnovers, terminal cleans and use of equipment for all shifts
Provide technical guidance for staff in resolving problems concerning equipment functioning and interpretation of policies and procedures
