About The Position

The surgical technologist prepares surgical set-up for procedures; observes and anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the procedure; functions within a sterile field; functions as a surgical assistant. Our facility boasts nine fully equipped operating rooms, designed to accommodate a diverse range of medical specialties. Among these, two are dedicated to da Vinci XI robotic surgeries, providing cutting-edge technology for minimally invasive procedures with unparalleled precision. Additionally, we are equipped with the Mako orthopedic robot, specifically designed for total joint surgeries, ensuring the highest level of accuracy in hip and knee replacements. Our facility supports a wide variety of surgical specialties, including ENT, Gynecology (GYN), Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cystoscopy (Cysto), and Podiatry. For patients requiring advanced vascular interventions, we also feature a dedicated Endovascular Surgery Suite, equipped with specialized imaging and tools for complex, minimally invasive procedures. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Hr. (5x8 hrs. or 4x10 hrs.) Will consider 36 Hr.(3x12) also Call Shift: This position does have call requirements and is subject to staffing needs. Job Summary Prepares surgical set-up for procedures; observes and anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the procedure; functions within a sterile field; Functions as a surgical assistant. Work Environment: Works primarily in a clinical setting. May be exposed to infectious, contagious, or blood-borne diseases. May be exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, and waste. May be exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment. May be subject to burns and cuts. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements including accidents, injuries and illness.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or surgical technology military program and a minimum of one year of work experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist required.
  • The Level II practitioner demonstrates a higher level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills and has met the Level I Certified Surgical Technologist criteria.
  • Credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (formerly LCC-ST) required and must be maintained.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Drapes patients for surgical procedures and assist the surgical team during operative procedure.
  • Cleans and prepared rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning.
  • Maintains and cares for equipment supplies.
  • Documents maintenance and repairs and troubleshoot equipment needs when necessary.
  • Performs assisting duties within the scope of a practicing CST Level II.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
