About The Position

At NorthBay Health, the Surgical Technologist II is responsible for delivering patient care to assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed professional nurse. The Surgical Technologist II functions primarily as the “scrub person” in the surgical suite and other clinical areas, working as a team member. This role provides specialized resources to the nursing department and Patient Care Services Division as a service lead, offering ongoing education, case consultation, or other program services. The technologist may be assigned additional functions as permitted by hospital policy. The Surgical Technologist II serves as a service lead for specialty surgical services, including but not limited to: Cardiovascular Surgery, ENT, General, Gynecology, Hybrid Room, JRP, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Podiatry, Robotics, Trauma Services, Urology, and Vascular. As a service lead, the Surgical Technologist II collaborates with the Clinical Nurse service lead to ensure updated preference cards, acts as a liaison between the surgeon and the OR, manages and maintains service-specific supplies, and provides educational in-services on new service supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate.
  • Graduate of Approved Surgical Technologist program required.
  • Current certification in basic CPR through American Heart Association.
  • Minimum one-year acute care operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist required.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique, safe use and care of surgical instruments and equipment, knowledge of various in-patient surgical procedures.
  • Basic windows computer skills required.
  • Good communication skills; works as a team member.
  • Actively engages in and supports a culture based on NorthBay Way principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Trauma II experience preferred.
