About The Position

Under supervision, assists in operations. May help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. This role participates in time-out procedures, attains extra supplies and equipment as needed, sets up equipment independently, and participates as an active member of the Patient Care Team. The Surgical Technologist II monitors and continually assesses operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs, and prepares patients for surgery by positioning them on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure. Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Certified Surgical First Assistant [CSFA (NBSTSA)] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
  • Certified Surgical Technologist [CST] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
  • Medical Technician [New Hampshire License] - New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy preferred
  • Experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting 2-3 years required
  • Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
  • Ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting; committee and leadership experience 3-5 years preferred

Responsibilities
