About The Position

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating room, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, collaborating with sterile processing, and contributing to a safe and supportive environment. The position requires adherence to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards, as well as monitoring and accounting for instruments, sponges, and supplies. Additionally, the Surgical Technologist II assists nursing staff in direct patient care activities.

BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)

BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision with a positive disposition.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
One (1) year of experience required.

Nice To Haves

Certified Surgical Technologist certification (CST or TS-C) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Precept and mentor new staff members, fostering skill development and support orientation and onboarding.
Handles, labels, and processes surgical specimens according to established protocols for safe and accurate delivery to the laboratory.
Prepares the operating room by setting up sterile fields with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies tailored to each case.
Anticipates the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently during procedures while maintaining strict sterile technique.
Collaborates with the sterile processing team to decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies.
Contributes to a safe and supportive environment by adhering to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards.
Verifies that surgical instruments and equipment are functioning properly and promptly reports or addresses any issues.
Monitors and accounts for instruments, sponges, and supplies throughout each procedure to ensure patient safety.
Assists nursing staff in direct patient care, including preparation, transport, positioning, and draping of patients for surgery.
