About The Position

Performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions. The role supports the surgical team by preparing the operating suite, maintaining aseptic practices, assisting with patient preparation and positioning, anticipating surgeon and patient-care needs, performing surgical counts, and using resources efficiently. Employees must follow applicable ethical, legal, privacy, information security, and company policy requirements.

Requirements

• One-year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• For Surgical Technologists hired after 12/29/2020: complete an accredited Surgical Technologist program and obtain nationally recognized certification (CST or TS-C) within six months of hire; military programs are accepted. Alternatively, qualify under the stated pre-existing employment provision: employment as a surgical technologist at this facility before 12/29/2020, or at another facility within the two years before 12/29/2020.
• American Heart Association CPR within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• 1–3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies.
• Use proper aseptic techniques and standard precautions; follow policies for medication and specimen handling.
• Assist with preparing, positioning, and draping patients, and participate in the surgical pause to verify the correct patient and surgical site.
• Understand, anticipate, and adapt to surgeon preferences and patient-care variables; contribute to updating surgeon preference materials.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Care for and use resources to promote a cost-effective and efficient environment for patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Comply with the company’s Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws and regulations, company policies, training requirements, HIPAA, and information security guidelines.
