About The Position

The Surgical Technician Educator is a practitioner and educator. As a practitioner, assists the surgeon, the registered nurse, and the anesthesiologist in the care of patients in the Operating Room. Collaborates with the surgical team to provide care for patient ensuring that the goals of the patients are met and the mission of the hospital is carried out. Serves as a role model. Assists in evaluation and acquisition of surgical equipment, instruments and supplies. This individual demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. As an Educator, collaborates with the Educational Services, participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of orientation, continuing education relevant to unit staff, regular. Maintains unit specific standard of practice based on current literature, and best practices. Educators serve as role models for education and facilitate team building. They have a responsibility to foster a positive attitude about the benefits and opportunities of life-long learning. The Surgical Technician is available for all three shifts, based on unit educational needs. Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of Surgical Technician experience is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Power Point & able to use excel is required.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required.
