About The Position

Performs in the role of assistant to the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures during the planned workday and on call. Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Under the direction of the surgeon, performs responsibilities that will include patient positioning, tissue handling, retracting, bleeding control including vessel clamping, cauterizing and tying, stapling, suturing and dressing application. Team member who provides direct and indirect patient care when caring for patients in the clinic setting. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a physician. Maintains regulatory requirements, policies, procedures and standards. Communicates with physicians and team members about patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

Requirements

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Ability to perform patient positioning, tissue handling, retracting, bleeding control including vessel clamping, cauterizing and tying, stapling, suturing and dressing application.
Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinic setting.
Ability to meet psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care.
