About The Position
Utilizes the principles and practices of surgical asepsis in the preparation of surgical instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile field and passing instruments to surgeons within the sterile field. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by demonstrating knowledge of surgical procedures and the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
Requirements
- Graduation from a certified surgical technologist program.
- Surgical Technologist Certification required within six months of employment.
- Must be within 45 minutes of the hospital when on call.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical instruments and supplies using principles of surgical asepsis.
- Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Pass instruments to surgeons within the sterile field.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon based on knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and physiology.
